Endellion String Quartet

Haydn – String Quartet in G major (op.76, no. 1)
Ravel – String Quartet
Beethoven – String Quartet in F major (op. 59, no.1) Razumovsky

The Endellion String Quartet, one of the world’s finest, celebrates 35 years of
playing together with a residency in the Ryedale Festival. After opening with one
of the most ambitious of all Haydn’s quartets they will play a work by Ravel which,
when it was shown to him, caused Debussy to exclaim, ‘In the name of the
gods of music and in my own, do not touch a single note of your Quartet!’ They
also perform the first of Beethoven’s Razumovsky quartets, with its astonishingly
rich range of expression and mood.

The Endellion is arguably the finest quartet in Britain, playing with poise, true
intonation, excellent balance and a beautiful tone’
