Pianist and conductor Howard Shelley joins the Orchestra of Opera North for a famous overture which Mendelssohn penned after visiting the Scottish isle of Staffa and one of the best-loved of all piano concertos. After the interval, Dvořák’s 7th symphony – a work full of stirring themes and emotional depth which, if not his most famous symphony, has a strong claim to being his finest.
